You can drink kava here from people who import it. Father and daughter Laurent and Yaelle Olivier founded Kava Republic as a bar and cafe. Laurent has worked with kava for over two decades and opened one of the first kava bars on the U.S. mainland. Yaelle left an engineering career to build a place for people to slow down and gather.
The kava comes from six Pacific regions, including the company's own farm in Hawai'i, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, the Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea. Hawaiian 'awa is usually drunk fresh. Alongside fresh kava, the bar pours coffee and local Jün and sets out treats. Live music and weekly events fill out the week.
